Katrina Relief

Katrina Relief Trip

I've just returned from Mississippi where a group of us from Messiah went to do Katrina Relief. We had a fabulous Project Manager who was able to turn out willingness into productive work! There isn't a lot of clean up to do in Mississippi - the force of the water surge destroyed buildings and trees, and as it receded, it took everything with it. Instead, the need is for construction - and we "finished" a house in our three days, sanding, painting, laying tile, cutting and installing baseboards, etc. We were comfortably (relatively!) housed in Quonset huts. The remains of the town of Bay St. Louis - one short block!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Day was not only full of excitement - but a hair-standing-on-end event, as you can see by these pictures! The bouncey-ball-pit generated hours of entertainment!

Christmas Eve Excitement!

Some (literally!) climb the walls....

Some are more composed...

And others don't really have much idea of what is going on, but it's fun anyway!

Anticipating Christmas!

Jack helps choose a tree...

and is even more interested in UN-decorating it!

Family Christmas Party at Wilshire

Santa and the Elves were NOT big hits with Jack, and there was no way he could sit still enough for face painting, but he did like the balloons, the poinsettias, the puppet show, the ornaments (which he called "balls" and tried to throw!), the choristers, AND the chocolate fountain (especially with marshmellows!). Welcome to Christmas, Jack!

Taylor is getting so grown up! She's poised and mature...

And Trey is a character! On Thanksgiving he announced, "I'm thankful for burps!" And demonstrated, of course!
